the first time i watched ep21 i was kinda confused about this scene
but watching it again, I realised that while the text (Suga’s thoughts) say 勝てよ, what Suga actually says out loud is 勝つそ
So I don’t really know enough Japanese to actually understand what this means?
Is the difference something like ‘Let’s win this’ vs ‘It’s our win’ or more of an issue of inclusion? Like, when Suga says 勝つそ (instead of 勝てよ which is directed more to Kageyama-tachi) he’s including himself as a part of Karasuno? Help? orz
I don’t know a lick of Japanese so this is mostly just speculation: Google is sayin the written words just mean “win” whereas what Suga says is “it’s win” and while the second one especially makes little sense, going off of the subtitles (“let’s win”) and drawing from your theory I’m thinking it’s probably like, what he was about to say carried the connotation of “(you) go out there and win” whereas what he actually said was closer to the subs’ “let’s win (together).” So if I had to guess, I’d say you’re right, it’s most likely an inclusion thing - Suga remembering his own words to Kageyama earlier and understanding that a victory won by the ones standing on the court is a victory for the entire team, himself included.
